The MarsB Astrophysics Research Project is a selective research program for students interested in astrophysics, aerospace engineering, and planetary science.

Students explore how artificial magnetic shielding could help protect Mars’ atmosphere and support future human habitation through systems modeling, scientific research, and mentorship from industry experts.

Participants gain hands-on experience in Mars habitability research, space systems analysis, and academic publishing, with opportunities for conference presentations and co-authored research papers.

MarsB Research Program Introduction:

The primary objective of the "MarsB" project is to assess methods for terraforming all of Mars. In this work, we used the MarsB system models to assess the feasibility of generating an artificial magnetopause to deflect the solar wind, to protect a future Martian atmosphere. Such an artificial magnetopause shield may be the most important step on the path to terraforming all of Mars which is of great public interest.
